One of the best methods I used to sell my house was simply to move everything out and paint inside and out. I used top quality paint but did nothing for decor. Unless you are a decorator and know what people will want, don't waste your time and money redecorating for someone you don't even know. When realtors and buyers of real estate view a home, they are most likely concerned with price and construction and your neighborhood in general. The price of your home will likely NOT exceed the average value in your area. If you are a buyer, look for the overspent and over fixed up to go cheap as the owners get desperate to sell over time. It is difficult, if not impossible to determine what your real estate buyer will want. Just clean it up and paint it, like a new, empty house. Let their imagination do your selling.
