Painting Your House When choosing your paint, always consider buying the best and more expensive paints. Personally, I tried using paint selling for less than $10.00 and had little luck with it. After choosing an inexpensive Blue-Gray mix, I found it necessary to coat 3 times instead of the normal 2. To make matters worse, the following spring I noticed my Blue-Gray had turned to an ugly purplish color. I went to Sears where an older man explained that only the best paints last. The number of years shown as lifespan on the side of a paint can really means until the last flake falls off. As a rule, divide the years shown on the paint can in half. This is the 'lookspan' meaning until it starts looking like time to paint again. I know, 'lookspan' is not a real word..
